Father and son Charles and Francois Tardy farm 52 acres of Syrah on the pebbly limestone terrace of Les Chassis, known for producing the finest Crozes-Hermitage redsand 12 acres of Marsanne, grown in the prestigious vineyards around Mercurol. In 2000, the two began implementing organic farming practices, and in 2012 they earned their official certification.
This gorgeous Syrah is produced from the domaine’s younger vines. Dark red/purple in color, it shows classic aromas of pepper, bacon and dark berries, as well as hints of dark cherries, black licorice, cedar and eucalyptus. A savory, black fruited palate that is very fresh with a subtle mineral texture that gives the wine good lift. Long and complex and certainly cellar-worthy.
