Newly available in Oregon, the Valgiano estate is the crown jewel of the Lucca DOC. Winemakers Moreno and Laura place Sangiovese front and center by utilizing a small percentage of Merlot and Syrah. The fruit will appeal to those who are more accustomed to lush, modern wines while the structure is traditional Tuscan. The best notes are from expert in the field, Antonio Galloni. His notes on the high-scoring, killer 2012 vintage:

“The 2012 Palistorti di Valgiano is bursting at the seams with personality. Juicy dark cherries, smoke, earthiness, licorice and violets are all super-expressive in the glass. Fleshy and boisterous, with plenty of intense, super-ripe fruit, the 2012 Palistorti di Valgiano delivers the goods, and then some. Drink this fleshy, immensely pleasing red over the next handful of years.”
